Dhaka, Aug 31 (V7N) — The National Citizens Party (NCP) is taking a positive view of the Mecca Pact, party spokesperson Asif Mahmud Sajeeb Bhuiyan has said.
He made the remarks at a press conference at the airport on Monday (August 31) after returning to Bangladesh following the performance of Umrah.
Asif Mahmud said the party's sub-committee is closely monitoring developments related to the Mecca Pact and is considering the matter positively.
He also alleged that a syndicate linked to the ruling BNP has become active again. According to him, airfares to Saudi Arabia had declined during the interim government, but ticket prices have increased again since the BNP came to power due to the alleged reactivation of the syndicate.
Referring to the ongoing gas and electricity crisis, the NCP spokesperson said price increases and extortion have increased across various sectors since the election.
He claimed that the situation has placed significant pressure on ordinary people and urged the government to take immediate steps to resolve the problems.
Asif Mahmud called on the government to act quickly to ease the gas and electricity crisis and address rising prices and alleged extortion.
