Dhaka, Aug 26 (V7N)- The Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) has announced a five-day program to mark its 48th founding anniversary.
BNP Acting Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi announced the program at a press conference following a joint meeting at the party's central office in Nayapaltan, Dhaka, on Wednesday (August 26) afternoon.
As part of the anniversary program, BNP Chairman and Prime Minister Tarique Rahman will pay tribute to the party's founder Ziaur Rahman and former Prime Minister Khaleda Zia at 9 am on September 1.
The party will also organize a discussion meeting on September 5, where senior BNP leaders are expected to participate.
In addition, the party has planned fish fry releases in open water bodies and tree plantation programs as part of the anniversary celebrations.
Rizvi said the exact date of the next BNP council has not yet been finalized, but preparations are underway and the council will be held soon.
He said BNP has always maintained honesty in its relationship with the people and has continued its political journey through struggles and hardships.
According to Rizvi, despite facing oppression and what he described as authoritarian rule, BNP did not surrender or suffer fundamental damage to its organizational strength.
The BNP Acting Secretary General also addressed the alleged torture of journalists in Shariatpur. He said the party has taken the incident into consideration and that organizational action would be taken if the allegations are found to be true.
