Dhaka, Feb 13 (V7N) — BNP candidate Mirza Abbas has been unofficially elected from the Dhaka-8 constituency in the 13th National Parliament Election, securing a total of 59,366 votes.
His closest rival, Muhammad Nasiruddin Patwari of the National Citizens Party (NCP), received 54,127 votes.
According to election officials, the constituency has a total of 275,471 voters, including 152,795 male voters, 122,675 female voters, and one transgender voter.
Voting for the national election began simultaneously across the country at 7:30 am in 42,779 polling centers and continued uninterrupted until 4:30 pm.
It is noteworthy that referendums on several important issues were also held nationwide alongside the parliamentary elections. Authorities are currently announcing center-wise results from across the country.
