Brahmanbaria, Feb 13 (V7N) — Independent candidate Rumin Farhana has secured a decisive victory in the 13th National Parliament election in the Brahmanbaria-2 constituency, which includes Sarail, Ashuganj, and parts of Bijoynagar.

She contested the election with the duck symbol and won by a margin of 37,568 votes over her nearest rival.

Her main opponent, Maulana Junaid Al Habib, a leader of Jamiat Ulama-e-Islam nominated by the BNP alliance with the palm tree symbol, received 79,927 votes, while Rumin Farhana secured 117,495 votes from a total of 151 polling centers.

Assistant Returning Officer Abu Bakar Sarkar unofficially declared Rumin Farhana the winner at around 12:00 midnight on Thursday.

According to election officials, the total number of voters in the Brahmanbaria-2 constituency is 499,448, with a voter turnout of 44.8 percent.
