Gaibandha, Feb 11 (V7N) — An argument and brief tension occurred between Jamaat and BNP leaders and activists over the distribution of voter slips in Ward No. 5 of Badiakhali Union, Gaibandha, on Wednesday morning.
Local sources said that Jamaat workers were distributing voter slips when BNP leaders and activists complained that money was being distributed along with the slips. Tension escalated at the site, and later at the Mathpara Mosque, Jamaat’s Badiakhali Union President Shamiul Haque and General Secretary Nazrul Islam, along with their supporters, had a verbal argument and scuffle with Badiakhali Union Jubo Dal convener Rafiqul Islam Rafiq.
The situation was later calmed when local dignitaries and residents intervened, describing the incident as a misunderstanding, which was resolved immediately.
Sadar Police Station Officer-in-Charge Abdullah Al Mamun said the police have not received any formal or verbal complaint regarding the incident.
