Sylhet, Feb 08 (V7N)- BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has called on voters to cast a ‘yes’ vote in favor of the referendum aimed at state reforms, saying the changes are essential to ensure accountability and prevent authoritarian rule.

He made the remarks while addressing an election road meeting at Golim Baburhat in Jagannathpur Union on Sunday (February 8) morning.

Mirza Fakhrul said, “Let the rule of one person be destroyed in our country. Let it not become fascist like the previous government. There must be accountability. If these reforms are not implemented, the country will fall behind again. That is why we must all vote ‘yes’ in the referendum.”

Emphasizing communal harmony, the BNP Secretary General said there is no concept of minorities in Bangladesh, adding that Hindus, Muslims, Buddhists and Christians are all equal citizens of the country.
“BNP stood by everyone in the past and will continue to stand by everyone in the future,” he said.

He further stated that if BNP comes to power, the party will give special priority to agriculture, education, healthcare and employment generation to build a prosperous Bangladesh.

Calling on voters to support BNP, Mirza Fakhrul urged people to cast their votes for the sheaf of paddy symbol, saying it is essential for ensuring development and democracy in the country.
