Dhaka, Feb 07 (V7N)- On the occasion of the 13th National Parliament Election, it has been decided that shops, commercial establishments, and shopping malls across the country will remain closed on February 11 and 12.
The decision was announced in a press release issued by the Bangladesh Shopkeepers’ Association.
According to the statement, the move has been taken to facilitate voters’ participation in the election and to align with the government-declared holidays surrounding the election.
The notification said that the 13th National Parliament Election and referendum will be held on February 12. As a result, business establishments will remain closed both on February 11 (the day before the election) and on election day.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Labour and Employment has declared a general holiday on February 10 for workers in industrial areas. As a result, workers will enjoy three consecutive holidays on February 10, 11, and 12.
The closures are expected to ensure smooth electoral activities and encourage maximum voter turnout across the country.
