Dhaka, Feb 01 (V7N) — Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman has alleged that a special group is hacking social media platforms and spreading false and misleading information to damage the party’s election campaign. He also claimed that incorrect narratives are being circulated regarding Jamaat’s stance on women.
In a post on his verified Facebook page on Sunday morning, Dr. Shafiqur Rahman said, “False and misleading content is being circulated on social media to misrepresent our position. I am sharing this to clarify our values and refocus the discussion on our policies.”
The Jamaat Ameer stated that the party’s manifesto has been clear from the beginning, emphasizing an active and dignified role for women in education, healthcare, administration, entrepreneurship and public service.
“We are committed to uninterrupted education for girls, safe campuses, zero tolerance for harassment, women-centric healthcare in every district, equal pay, safe workplaces, childcare support and skills training for dignified employment,” he wrote.
He further said that Jamaat supports women’s leadership in politics and local government, economic empowerment of rural women, strong legal protection and social dignity.
“These are not new positions. I publicly articulated these principles months ago and reiterated them at the Policy Summit on January 20. This is not a response to rumors or online pressure, but a reflection of a long-standing and consistent view,” he added.
Calling on the public to evaluate him based on policy rather than online narratives, Dr. Shafiqur Rahman said, “Judge me by my record, policies and manifesto, not by false narratives.”
He announced that Jamaat’s election manifesto would be formally released on February 3, detailing commitments including safe education for girls, equal workplace opportunities, women-centric healthcare, strong legal protection, economic dignity and leadership roles for women.
Concluding the post, the Jamaat Ameer said, “Respecting women is the identity of a progressive Bangladesh, and Jamaat is working to build that future.”
