Rangpur, Jan 24 (V7N) — Jamaat-e-Islami Amir Dr. Shafiqur Rahman visited the grave of Shaheed Abu Sayeed in Babanpur village of Pirganj upazila in Rangpur on Saturday morning as part of his election campaign.
The Jamaat Amir reached the grave around 9:00 am, where he offered prayers along with Abu Sayeed’s father and brother, National Citizens Party (NCP) Member Secretary Akhtar Hossain, and party leaders and activists, seeking forgiveness for the departed soul.
Dr. Shafiqur Rahman began the third day of his election campaign with the visit, saying that Jamaat-e-Islami is moving forward by embracing the sacrifice and ideals of the martyrs.
Addressing those present, the Jamaat Amir said that the party wants the immediate completion of trials in the killings of all martyrs, including Shaheed Abu Sayeed, and the punishment of those responsible.
“Our position on this issue is clear and unwavering. We will keep the families of Shaheed Abu Sayeed and other martyrs on our heads like a crown. You will see this commitment reflected in reality, Insha Allah. This is not mere rhetoric; this is a solemn pledge,” he said.
He further stated, “We promise that no matter what happens, we will never bow our heads. Just as Abu Sayeed sacrificed his life for the country, we are prepared to sacrifice our lives for the nation. But we will not mortgage the honor of even an inch of the country’s land to anyone. May Allah grant us success. Together, we will move forward, Insha Allah.”
