Dhaka, Dec 29 (V7N) — Naseeruddin Patwari, chief coordinator of the National Citizens Party (NCP), will contest the Dhaka-8 constituency in the upcoming 13th National Parliament election. The nomination papers were submitted on Monday under the banner of the 11-party alliance led by Jamaat-e-Islami.

Patwari previously collected nomination forms from the NCP to contest from Dhaka-18 constituency, a seat where Sharif Osman Hadi, recently shot dead by miscreants, had campaigned.

Speaking to the media, Patwari urged swift justice for Hadi and other victims of political violence, including Chhatra Dal leader Samya, noting, “This is a valley of death. We don't want any more deaths here. We will make this constituency the most beautiful and cleanest in the city.”

Regarding the recent resignations of party members, he said, “We are moving towards forming a real party. Even if we went to BNP, there would have been many disagreements. There are also disagreements with Jamaat, and I respect these disagreements. This is not an ideological alliance. The alliance was formed because we agreed on many issues including reforms, justice, and economy.”

Patwari also expressed optimism, stating that together, the alliance aims to rid the country of corruption and promote meaningful political change.
