Dhaka, Nov 17 (V7N) – A Chhatra Dal leader in Faridpur has been expelled from the organisation for posting a Facebook status about BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir. The expulsion was announced on Sunday afternoon in a press release signed by Md Jahangir Alam, Office Secretary of the Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal central committee.
The expelled leader, Khairul Islam Roman, served as the Joint General Secretary of the Faridpur district unit of Chhatra Dal. According to the press release, Roman was removed from his organisational post based on specific allegations of violating party discipline. The decision was approved by Chhatra Dal President Rakibul Islam Rakib and General Secretary Nasir Uddin Nasir.
The statement further instructed leaders and activists of all units to refrain from maintaining any organisational communication with Roman following his expulsion.
Speaking to reporters, Roman said he had posted a comment on Facebook regarding BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir but removed it after realising it was inappropriate. He said he also apologised for the post but was expelled nonetheless. Roman stated he does not wish to make further comments on the matter.
