Jhalokathi, Nov 13 (V7N) — The final match and cultural program of the Arafat Rahman Koko Memorial Football Tournament 2025 were held on Wednesday at Gajirhat School field in Rajapur, creating a festive atmosphere among players and spectators. In a tense finish, Rajapur Brothers United Football Club defeated Mirerhat Sporting Club in a thrilling tie-breaker match, earning the championship title.
The event was attended by a number of prominent political and community figures. Aminul Haque, Convener of Dhaka Metropolitan North BNP, was the chief guest, while Golam Azam Soikat, BNP candidate for Jhalokathi-1 (Rajapur-Kathalia), delivered the main speech. Special guests included Dhaka Metropolitan North BNP Joint Convener Rezwanul Haque Riaz, Mahbubul Alam Montu, former Central Jubo Dal Organizational Secretary Sumon Dewan, Dhaka Metropolitan North Jubo Dal Joint Convener Md. Jasim Uddin, and Central Jubo Dal leader Main Uddin Sikder Nayon.
The program, presided over by Galua Union BNP General Secretary Mirazul Islam, was also attended by district labor leader Tipu Sultan, Krishak Dal General Secretary Chashi Nanna Khalifa, former district Swechchhasebak Dal General Secretary Sardar Safayet Hossain, and school leaders including Saiful Ahad Rubel Gazi and Headmaster Humayun Kabir.
Thousands of spectators filled the field and surrounding areas, creating a vibrant and festive environment. The crowd erupted with applause and cheers, celebrating the players’ efforts. Following the match, an entertaining cultural program captivated the audience.
Chief guest Aminul Haque emphasized the importance of sports beyond entertainment, highlighting its role in teaching discipline, teamwork, and leadership to youth. He also called for a drug-free society and encouraged support for BNP’s election symbol, the “Dhaner Shish,”(Paddy Sheaf) in line with the vision of acting Chairman Tarique Rahman.
Golam Azam Soikat added that such events help keep young people away from drugs and antisocial activities, contributing to the development of a healthy and harmonious society. He urged all to unite behind the “Dhaner Shish” in the upcoming election and work toward implementing Tarique Rahman’s 31-point reform agenda to advance both society and the nation.
Trophies and awards were presented to the winning team, and the event concluded with jubilant celebrations echoing the “Dhaner Shish” slogan across Gajirhat School field and its surroundings.
