Dhaka, Oct 17 (V7N) — Dr. Shafiqur Rahman, Amir of Jamaat-e-Islami, has strongly criticized the interim government’s police action against the July fighters, calling it “shameful” that they had to take to the streets even on the day of the July Charter signing.

Dr. Rahman made the remarks at a workers’ rally in Mirpur No. 10 on Friday (October 17). He said that while many demands of the July fighters are being accepted, they are still being deprived of their rightful recognition.

Highlighting the historical struggle of his party, the Jamaat Amir said that “no one in the history of Bangladesh has been subjected to oppression like Jamaat,” which gives them a unique understanding of the suffering of the July movement participants.

He emphasized that Jamaat has not taken revenge against anyone since the July movement, nor has it indulged in criminal activity, despite opportunities to do so. Dr. Rahman also promised that the party will ensure no crimes will be committed in the coming days.
