Dhaka, Oct 12 (V7N) – Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman has welcomed the Bangladesh Army’s announcement of full cooperation in the trial process of disappearance and murder cases, saying that no institution should be blamed for the crimes committed by a few individuals.

In a post from his verified Facebook account on Sunday (October 12) morning, Dr. Rahman stated that the entire institution cannot be tarnished for the misdeeds of a few. “The responsibility for the crimes will fall solely on the individuals concerned,” he said.

Praising the army’s proactive stance, the Jamaat Ameer noted that the army has already taken the accused personnel into custody and expressed his support for the initiative. “We welcome this clear announcement from the army to support the trial process,” he added.

Dr. Shafiqur Rahman also lamented that some members of the force had failed to respect the law and human rights, claiming they acted as “blind collaborators” of a fascist government in executing enforced disappearances and extrajudicial killings. He described this as “a frightening environment for the nation.”

Emphasizing fairness, the Jamaat chief said, “We hope that no injustice will be imposed on anyone. Through a transparent judicial process, specific criminals will face appropriate punishment.”

He added that ensuring justice will not only address past wrongs but also deter future violations by preventing anyone from abusing their professional power to harm others. “In the long run, the entire nation will benefit,” he concluded.
