Dhaka, Sep 06 (V7N) – Jamaat-e-Islami has expressed deep concern and strongly condemned the incident of exhuming and burning the body of Nurul Haque, popularly known as ‘Nural Pagla,’ in Goalanda, Rajbari. The condemnation came through a party statement issued on Saturday.

The statement said that the body of Nurul Haque, who had claimed to be ‘Imam Mahdi,’ was forcibly exhumed and set on fire by individuals from a group calling itself the ‘Iman-Aqeedah Raksha Committee.’ “Nurul Haque is now deceased; he will be accountable to Allah for his actions during his lifetime. But Islam does not approve of exhuming and burning the body in this manner,” the party said.

Jamaat termed the act a violation of both human and religious values, adding that linking Jamaat’s name to the incident is “unfortunate, unwanted, and baseless.”

Reaffirming its identity as a systematic, democratic, and Islamic movement, Jamaat stated that it does not tolerate activities that create chaos in society or the state.

The party further stressed that taking the law into one’s own hands is unacceptable and that law enforcement agencies should have acted more responsibly to maintain peace and order. It also urged all to refrain from activities that may create instability and unrest in the country.
