Pabna 18, May (V7N)- Habibur Rahman Habib, advisor to the BNP Chairperson and convener of Pabna district BNP, has issued a warning stating that "no Jamaat muezzin will be able to give the call to prayer in Atgharia, Pabna."
A video of his remarks, which went viral on social media on Saturday night (May 17), captured him making these statements during a visit to BNP leaders and activists who were injured in a Jamaat-BNP clash in Atgharia and were receiving treatment at Pabna General Hospital that afternoon.
In the video, Habib stated, "The party will take whatever decision it takes. I have no disagreement with that. But I will say today, the future is later. No Jamaat muezzin will be able to give the call to prayer in any mosque in Atgharia, no Jamaat imam will be able to lead the prayer. Last Friday, people were unable to offer Jumma prayers in the Debottar Bazar Jame Mosque. They escaped through the lock. What a horrible incident."
Habib further asserted, "They lie. They don't pray behind them. They are a ruthless group that is against independence. They don't believe in the independence of Bangladesh. They were friends of Pakistan. So I call on the people of Atgharia to stand against them."
Regarding the burning of the Quran and Hadith at the Jamaat office, Habib claimed, "Our leaders and activists did not burn the Quran. They (Jamaat) burned the Quran themselves. I can say this with responsibility that no BNP leader and activist can burn the Quran. If you can show the video footage of BNP leaders and activists burning the Quran, then I will take full responsibility. And they will have to pay compensation for the 100 motorcycles we have destroyed."
Despite attempts to contact several responsible leaders, including Pabna District Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Professor Abu Taleb Mondal, for comment, no response was received as they did not answer their phones.
