Mongla, Dec 16 (V7N) – Marking the Great Victory Day, the Bangladesh Navy and Bangladesh Coast Guard opened their warships to the general public in Mongla, allowing citizens to gain first-hand experience of the country’s maritime defense capabilities.

According to separate press releases issued by the Navy and the Coast Guard, the Bangladesh Navy opened the warship BNS Abu Bakar to visitors at the Digraj Naval Jetty on Tuesday from 12:00 pm to 4:00 pm. During the same hours, the Bangladesh Coast Guard made its warships BCGS Kamruzzaman and Touhid accessible to the public at the West Zone Headquarters Jetty.

Throughout the visiting hours, a large number of people from different walks of life gathered at the jetties to view the warships. Sailors and crew members warmly received the visitors and provided them with an introductory briefing on the ships’ operational roles, technical capabilities, and routine maritime activities.

Visitors also gained insights into the modernization of these vessels and their vital role in ensuring maritime security, safeguarding coastal areas, and protecting national interests at sea. Many expressed satisfaction and excitement at being able to closely observe the warships, describing the experience as both informative and memorable.

The initiative was widely appreciated by the public, as it helped strengthen awareness about the Navy and Coast Guard’s contributions to national defense and maritime safety, while also fostering a sense of pride on the historic Victory Day.
