Dhaka, Dec 12 (V7N) — Asif Mahmud Sajib Bhuiyan has announced that he will contest the upcoming 13th National Parliament election as an independent candidate from the Dhaka-10 constituency, which includes Dhanmondi, Kalabagan, Hazaribagh, New Market, and part of Kamrangir Char.
Bhuiyan made the announcement through a video message posted on his verified Facebook page on Friday (December 12).
In the video, he said, “I do not have the patronage of any major political party, numerous dedicated workers, or the money required by the existing system. Your cooperation and support is my only recourse. And my responsibility will be only to you.”
He also urged citizens to vote “yes” in the referendum to support reforms. “I am not just a candidate for the post of Member of Parliament, but also a candidate for the referendum. Vote ‘yes’ in the referendum to implement the opportunity that has come to reform the country at the cost of so many lives,” he said.
The election schedule for the 13th National Parliament was announced on Thursday (December 11). Following their resignations from the interim government, Bhuiyan and another student advisor, Mahfuz Alam, had been the subject of speculation regarding which political party they might join. Bhuiyan’s announcement clarifies that he will contest as an independent candidate.
