DHAKA, July 7,  (V7N) – The Ministry of Cultural Affairs has established a 19-member committee dedicated to comprehensively reforming the Bangla Academy and enhancing the effectiveness and relevance of its activities.

Eminent writer, researcher, and translator Faizul Latif Chowdhury has been appointed to chair the committee. Bangla Academy Director General Professor Mohammad Azam will serve as the member secretary, according to an official press release issued today.

The reform committee's mandate includes a thorough examination of the Bangla Academy's existing laws, organizational structure, and operational framework. Based on its findings, the committee is tasked with proposing recommendations to align the institution's functions more effectively with its broader cultural and intellectual mission.

The committee holds the authority to co-opt additional members if deemed necessary. The Director General of Bangla Academy will provide all requisite secretarial support to facilitate the committee's work.

All activities and recommendations of the committee are to be completed and submitted within the next three months.
