Dhaka, July 02 (V7N) — The government is determined to prevent incidents like the recent violence in Muradnagar, Comilla, and law enforcement agencies are taking a firm stand to ensure public safety, said Home Affairs Advisor Lt. Gen. (Retd.) Jahangir Alam Chowdhury. He assured that those involved in such incidents are being swiftly arrested.
The advisor made these remarks in response to questions from journalists during a program at the Rice Research Institute in Agargaon, Dhaka, on Wednesday afternoon.
On the issue of the weapon license controversy, Jahangir Alam clarified that Local Government Advisor Asif Mahmud Sajib Bhuiyan obtained the license through proper legal procedures. However, he acknowledged that carrying a weapon magazine was a mistake.
Speaking about the rice market, the Home Affairs Advisor said, “Although the country produces sufficient rice, the price remains high because certain individuals are manipulating the market for personal gain, causing hardship for ordinary people.”
He also emphasized transparency and accountability, stating, “If we have any mistakes, we will certainly admit them. We will learn from our mistakes. If I commit corruption, tell me about me.”
