Comilla, June 29 (V7N) — Muradnagar Police Station has arrested five individuals, including the main accused, in connection with the rape of a woman in Muradnagar, Comilla, and the subsequent circulation of a video of the crime on social media.
The main accused, Fajr Ali (38), was apprehended from Sayedabad, Dhaka, during a police operation early on Sunday.
The other four arrested are identified as Suman, Ramzan, Arif, and Anik, who were detained for their involvement in spreading the video online. Police have not released further details about these individuals.
Superintendent of Police (SP) Nazir Ahmed Khan confirmed the arrests, stating that law enforcement acted promptly to bring the accused into custody. “The main accused was captured in a drive conducted at Sayedabad. Four others were arrested for circulating the video on social media,” said SP Nazir Ahmed Khan.
The case stems from an incident on Thursday (June 26), when the victim, visiting Muradnagar, was allegedly raped by Fajr Ali. The accused later distributed a video recording of the assault across social media platforms.
Following the incident, the victim — whose husband works abroad — filed a formal complaint at Muradnagar Police Station on Friday (June 27) afternoon.
Police have assured that strict legal action will be taken against those responsible, both for the crime itself and for violating the victim's privacy by distributing the footage.
