Dhaka, June 28 (V7N) — Top business leaders have called for immediate, coordinated action by the Ministries of Finance, Commerce, and Industries, along with the relevant departments, to address the ongoing impasse at the National Board of Revenue (NBR). They stressed that a dialogue with agitating NBR officials and employees has become critical to resolve the deadlock.

Speaking at a press conference on Saturday afternoon, the business community warned that the complete shutdown across all NBR offices is crippling import and export activities and could trigger a major economic disaster if not resolved quickly.

“The business community wants an efficient, harassment-free NBR. The removal of the NBR chairman is not our demand — this crisis stems from internal disputes over the distribution of power,” said one business leader.

They further remarked that “revenue officials have long harassed businesses, and now they are turning against the government itself.”

The leaders urged the government to prioritize a quick resolution to protect the economy from further harm and ensure stability in trade operations.
