Dhaka, Aug 28 (V7N)- Dhaka University authorities have honored 62 teachers and researchers in recognition of their outstanding contributions to research and their role in enhancing the university's profile internationally.
The honored teachers and researchers have each received more than 2,000 citations on Google Scholar. The awards were presented at a ceremony held at the Nawab Nawab Ali Chowdhury Senate Building on Thursday (August 27), according to a press release from the university's Public Relations Office.
Congratulating the honorees, Dhaka University Vice Chancellor Professor ABM Obaidul Islam said the researchers must play a leading role in transforming the university into a research-oriented institution and improving its position in international rankings.
He said government funding alone is not sufficient to take Dhaka University forward. Cooperation from the university's alumni and the industrial sector is also necessary.
The event was chaired by Dhaka University Pro-Vice Chancellor (Education) Professor Abdus Salam. Pro-Vice Chancellor (Administration) Professor Mohammad Almojaddidi Alfesani and Treasurer Professor M Jahangir Alam Chowdhury attended as special guests.
Among those honored were Professor Md Anwarul Islam, Professor Md Abu Bin Hasan Susan, Professor Abdus Salam, Professor Md Enamul Haque, Professor Md Mominul Islam, Professor Md Ahsan Habib, Professor Mohammad Shoaib, Professor Muhammad Ferdous, Professor Mohammad Abdul Qadir, Professor Md Sharif Hossain, Professor Selim Raihan, Professor Rumana Haque, Professor M Niaz Asad Ullah, Professor Niaz Ahmed Khan, Professor Zeba Islam Seraj and Professor AHM Nurun Nabi.
Emeritus Professors Chowdhury Mahmud Hasan and Md Abdur Rashid were also among the researchers honored, along with professors, associate professors and assistant professors from various departments of the university.
The recognition highlights the contribution of Dhaka University's researchers to academic research and their growing presence in international scholarly platforms.
