Madhabpur, July 24 (V7N) — Local residents of Madhabpur Upazila in Habiganj have staged a human chain and protest rally demanding an investigation into alleged irregularities and corruption at Andiura Ummetunnesa High School, while opposing what they described as a conspiracy surrounding the formation of the institution’s ad-hoc management committee.
The protest was held on Thursday (July 23) at noon on the Dhaka-Sylhet highway adjacent to the school premises, where several hundred men and women participated. Demonstrators carried banners, placards, and raised slogans highlighting their demands.
The protest rally was chaired by former president of Andiura Union BNP Abdul Kayum and moderated by Eklachur Rahman Siraji. Speakers included Madhabpur Upazila BNP Senior Joint General Secretary Chowdhury Fazle Imam Sumon, Jubo Dal leader and former union parishad member Sadek Mia, former school management committee member Md. Saiful Islam Member, Sheikh Mohammad Shamim Rezvi, Sheikh Ubaid Ullah, and other local dignitaries.
Addressing the gathering, speakers alleged that a planned conspiracy was underway over the formation of the school’s ad-hoc committee. They said local residents would not accept the appointment of a chairman from outside the area.
They also called on the relevant authorities to investigate allegations of administrative irregularities and corruption within the institution and take necessary action.
The protesters demanded a transparent, accountable, and fair management system to ensure the proper operation of the educational institution and protect the interests of students and the local community.
