Habiganj, May 22 (V7N) — Tahmina Akter, an assistant teacher at Abashik Elaka Government Primary School in Habiganj Sadar Upazila, has been selected as the Best Female Assistant Teacher of Habiganj district under the National Primary Education Award-2026 in recognition of her dedication, academic excellence, and innovative teaching methods.

The prestigious recognition was confirmed through an official letter signed by Habiganj Deputy Commissioner Dr. G.M. Sarfraz, who served as president of the district-level selection committee, and District Primary Education Officer Md. Shah Alam, member secretary of the committee.

Tahmina Akter began her academic journey at Cantonment Uttar Kafrul High School in Dhaka. She later completed her Secondary School Certificate (SSC) and Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) from Mirpur Girls Ideal College. She earned her Bachelor’s degree with honors in English from Government Titumir College in the capital before completing her Master’s degree in English from the historic Murari Chand (MC) College in Sylhet.

Demonstrating exceptional professional competence, she successfully passed a special examination organized by the British Council and was selected among 1,600 teachers from across Bangladesh for advanced English language training.

As part of the programme, she participated in a three-month intensive training course conducted by international trainers at the Primary Teachers’ Training Institute (PTI) in Moulvibazar. She successfully completed the 14-week professional development programme with distinction.

For years, Tahmina Akter has earned recognition within the education community for implementing modern and student-friendly teaching methods aimed at improving the quality of primary education. Her innovative classroom instruction, dedication to students, and relentless efforts to enhance learning standards played a significant role in securing the district-level honor.

Colleagues, students, guardians, and local education advocates have expressed joy and congratulated her on the achievement.

In her personal life, Tahmina Akter is married to Mohsin Alam, proprietor of Starlet Fashion Maker.
