Dhaka, Mar 10, (V7N) – University of Dhaka has announced a series of programmes to mark Independence Day of Bangladesh on March 26.
The programmes include a discussion meeting, placing floral wreaths at the National Martyrs' Memorial and special munajat and prayers in remembrance of the martyrs.
According to the schedule, the national flag will be hoisted at 6:00 am at all central buildings, residential halls and hostels of the university.
Teachers, students, officials, employees and alumni of the university will gather at Smriti Chironton Chattar at 5:45 am. From there, a delegation led by the Vice-Chancellor will proceed to the National Martyrs’ Memorial at 6:00 am to place floral wreaths in tribute to the martyrs of the Liberation War.
A special munajat will be offered at the university’s central mosque after the Zohr prayer seeking eternal peace for the departed souls of the martyrs and intellectuals. Special prayers will also be held at other religious places of worship on campus.
The university will also distribute sweets among the family members of its employees as part of the observance.
In addition, a discussion meeting highlighting the significance of Independence Day will be held at the auditorium of the Teacher-Student Centre at 11:30 am on March 29.
The meeting will be presided over by the Vice-Chancellor of Dhaka University, Niaz Ahmad Khan. Pro-Vice Chancellor (Administration) Saima Haque Bidisha, Pro-Vice Chancellor (Education) Mamun Ahmed and Treasurer M Jahangir Alam Chowdhury will attend the event as guests of honour.
