Dhaka, Feb 27 (V7N) – As today marks the weekend holiday, the doors of the Amar Ekushey Book Fair opened at 11:00 am on Friday, with a special ‘Child Hour’ running until 1:00 pm.

Special arrangements have been made for children and teenagers in the Bangla Academy section, where young visitors are expected to immerse themselves in the festive atmosphere of new books, colorful decorations, and cultural activities. Families with children added a lively touch to the fairgrounds, turning the venue into a vibrant celebration of Bengali culture.

Every Friday and Saturday, the fair features the ‘Child Hour’ from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm, during which drawing, recitation, and music competitions for children are organized as part of the Ekushey celebrations.

This year’s fair is relatively short — lasting only 18 days — amid various logistical challenges. With the month of Ramadan approaching, publishers had expressed concerns about visitor turnout and book sales. In addition, over 40 percent of stalls are yet to be fully completed, though publishers remain hopeful about strong opening-day sales.

The fair runs daily from 2:00 pm to 9:00 pm, while on holidays it operates from 11:00 am to 9:00 pm. The event will continue until March 15.
