Dhaka, Jan 06 (V7N)- Voting in the Jagannath University Central Student Union (JnUCSU) elections is currently underway amid tight security. Polling began at 8:00 am on Tuesday (January 6) and will continue until 3:00 pm.

Teachers, officials, and employees entered the university campus in the morning under strict surveillance. Security arrangements have been strengthened to ensure a peaceful voting environment.

As the day progresses, voter turnout is gradually increasing. Many students are casting their votes for the first time and expressed satisfaction with the overall security and election management.

A total of 157 candidates are contesting for 21 posts of the JnU Central Student Union. Additionally, 190 candidates are contesting for 34 posts, including 33 posts across 13 student halls. The total number of voters in the election stands at 16,665.

Candidates are participating under four panels, while several candidates are also contesting as independents.
For key positions, 12 candidates are contesting for the post of Vice President (VP), 9 for General Secretary (GS), and 8 for Assistant General Secretary (AGS).

Meanwhile, an incident occurred on the university campus during the morning hours when an individual attempted to enter the premises posing as a Jagannath University official. Failing to produce a valid ID card when challenged, the individual was chased by students. He was later detained and handed over to the police after being physically assaulted.

Authorities are monitoring the situation closely to ensure the election process continues smoothly and peacefully.
