Chittagong, Oct 15 (V7N) — Voting for the Chittagong University Central Students' Union (CUCSU) and Hall Parliament elections concluded on Wednesday, with students casting their ballots from 9:30 am to 4 pm. The counting process is now underway and will be conducted in two phases.
Polling took place at stations in five faculty buildings of the university. While the voting process was generally smooth, some students faced long queues due to the time taken to seal ballots for 26 posts. Despite the delay, student interest remained high throughout the day.
Some VP candidates from Chhatra Dal and Shibir-backed panels expressed concern over the non-use of indelible ink, fearing potential fake votes. However, they affirmed their willingness to accept the results if the vote is fair and work collaboratively afterward.
The university administration reassured students that there is no possibility of fraudulent voting, as the election used a photo-based voter list.
A total of 908 candidates contested the combined elections—415 for CUCSU and 493 for Hall Sangsad. Of these, 24 candidates were elected unopposed. 27,517 students were registered to vote in the elections.
