Savar, Sep 13 (V7N) – The long-awaited Jahangirnagar University Central Students’ Union (JUCSU) and Hall Parliament elections have yet to produce results even after several days of voting. University authorities say the delay stems from a lack of experience in conducting such polls, as no JUCSU election has been held in the past 33 years.

Speaking to reporters on Saturday afternoon, university proctor and Election Commission member secretary Professor AKM Rashedul Alam said, “We have not seen JUCSU elections in over three decades, so our experience is naturally limited. To ensure that there is no mistake or doubt, each ballot is being carefully checked and analyzed before preparing the main result sheet. That is why the process is taking extra time.”

He added, “Every vote is valuable. We are moving carefully, not hastily. The results will be accurate, well-organized, and acceptable to all.”

Chief Election Commissioner Professor Md. Moniruzzaman also confirmed that although vote counting is expected to be completed by noon, the final results will be formally announced at 7 pm.

So far, counting for 18 out of 21 halls has been completed, with the remaining three still underway.

Voting took place last Thursday, with 11,743 registered voters casting their ballots. Turnout was reported at about 67–68 percent. While the counting began Thursday night, it was halted on Friday afternoon due to disputes over counting methods. The process later resumed manually with additional polling officers deployed.
