Dhaka, Aug 20 (V7N) – Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD) has announced its panel for the upcoming Dhaka University Central Students' Union (DUCSU) elections. The declaration was made by JCD central president Rakibul Islam Rakib at the foot of the Invincible Bangla on Wednesday noon.
In the panel, Abidul Islam Khan, joint general secretary of Dhaka University Chhatra Dal and a student of the Department of Islamic Studies (2015–16 session), has been nominated for the post of Vice President (VP). Tanvir Bari Hamim, convener of Chhatra Dal and a student of the Department of Women and Gender Studies (2018–19 session), was nominated for the post of General Secretary (GS). Meanwhile, Tanvir Al Hadi Mayed, convener of Bijoy Ekattor Hall Chhatra Dal and a student of the Department of Mass Communication and Journalism (2018–19 session), has been announced as the candidate for Assistant General Secretary (AGS).
At the event, Rakibul Islam Rakib said that in honor of Sanjida Ahmed Tonvi, who was injured during the July uprising, Chhatra Dal has decided not to nominate anyone for the post of Research and Publication Affairs Secretary. “Tonvi herself is contesting for the post, and we are extending our respect and support by keeping this position open for her,” he added.
Chhatra Dal has also announced candidates for all other posts. Rakibul Islam Rakib further informed that the formal campaign for DUCSU elections will begin with a visit to the grave of Shaheed Anas, one of the martyrs of the July uprising.
