The first-year admission test for the 2023-24 academic year at three engineering universities is scheduled to take place today. The test will commence at 10 a.m. on Sunday (March 3) for two groups of applicants, with Group A concluding their test at 12 p.m. and Group B at 1:45 p.m.

The three engineering universities conducting the admission test are Chittagong University of Engineering and Technology (CUET), Khulna University of Engineering and Technology (KUET), and Rajshahi University of Engineering and Technology (RUET).

According to the Admission Committee, a total of 3,281 seats are available for this year's admission test, distributed as follows: 931 seats at CUET, 1,065 seats at KUET, and 1,285 seats at RUET. A total of 22,066 candidates will be vying for these seats, resulting in a candidate-to-seat ratio of approximately 6.7:1.

Group A, consisting of engineering departments and the urban and regional planning department, has 20,060 applicants, while Group B, encompassing engineering departments, urban and regional planning department, and architecture department, has 2,006 applicants.

The admission test will be conducted across three centers: CUET, KUET, and RUET. The seating ratio per seat will be 26 candidates at CUET, 16 candidates at KUET, and 22 candidates at RUET.

Professor Dr. Md. Kamruzzaman Ripon, Dean and Chairman of the Admission Committee of the Faculty of Engineering at RUET, specified that examinees will not be permitted to enter the hall after 30 minutes from the test's commencement. Furthermore, they will be required to remain in the test room for at least 1 hour and 30 minutes after the test begins. No electronic devices, including mobile phones and geometry boxes, will be allowed during the test, except for an authorized calculator provided by the Admission Committee.

The admission test will comprise multiple-choice questions (MCQs) on mathematics, physics, chemistry, and English subjects. Group A and Group B will both be evaluated on a total of 500 marks for the MCQ questions, with an additional 200 marks allocated for freehand drawing in Group B. The admission test results will be announced on March 16 at 10 p.m.
