Manikganj, Sept 18 (V7N) – Manikganj District Jubo Dal today conducted a cleanliness drive in the Manikganj Municipality area to prevent the spread of dengue and chikungunya in the district town.
Leaders and activists of the organisation took part in the drive and cleaned roads, roadside areas and ditches to destroy potential mosquito-breeding grounds. People from different walks of life also joined the programme and expressed their support for the initiative.
Jubo Dal leaders urged residents to keep their yards and the surroundings of their houses clean to protect themselves and their neighbours from mosquito-borne diseases. They said such cleanliness drives would continue in the days ahead as part of efforts to prevent the spread of dengue and chikungunya.
The cleanliness drive is part of a broader nationwide effort to combat dengue, which has been on a rising trend across Bangladesh. Prime Minister Tarique Rahman launched a three-month nationwide 'Dengue Prevention and Cleanliness Campaign' on September 12, 2026, urging citizens to keep their homes, educational institutions and surroundings clean and free of stagnant water.
The government has also been working to strengthen mosquito control measures, including the formation of a National Taskforce Committee on dengue prevention, spraying of larvicides, and public awareness campaigns. The involvement of Jubo Dal, the youth wing of the BNP, reflects the government's emphasis on community participation and collective action in the fight against mosquito-borne diseases.
