PABNA, Sept 15 (V7N) — The Pabna district unit of Jubo Dal, the youth wing of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP), has launched a weeklong dengue prevention campaign as part of a nationwide seven-day programme announced by the party’s central executive committee.
On the first day of the campaign, organizers held a discussion meeting, brought out an awareness rally, conducted cleaning activities, spread bleaching powder and carried out mosquito-control operations using fogging machines.
The seven-day programme was inaugurated on Monday afternoon with a discussion meeting at the Pabna district BNP office.
The meeting was chaired by Pabna District Jubo Dal Convener Elias Ahmed Himel Rana and moderated by Member Secretary Monir Ahmed. Abdullah Al Mahmud Mannan Master, former senior joint convener of the district BNP, attended the event as the chief guest.
Among the special guests were district BNP Joint Convener Abu Obaida Sheikh Tuhin, Sadar Upazila BNP Member Secretary Rehanul Islam Bulal, district Jubo Dal Joint Convener Abu Raihan Nayan, Sadar Upazila Jubo Dal Convener Faruk Hossain Sujon and municipal Jubo Dal Convener Saidul Islam Rupom.
Speakers at the meeting said dengue prevention could not depend solely on government initiatives and called on people from all sections of society to remain aware and actively participate in prevention efforts.
They urged residents to regularly remove stagnant water, discarded containers and other potential mosquito breeding sites around their homes.
The speakers also called on Jubo Dal leaders and activists to play a more active role in raising public awareness about dengue prevention.
Following the discussion, the organizers brought out an awareness rally that passed through several roads in the city.
Later, cleaning activities were carried out at different locations, while bleaching powder was spread and mosquito-control operations were conducted using fogging machines as part of the campaign.
