Pabna, Aug 06 (V7N) — Pabna observed July Mass Uprising Day 2026 on Wednesday with wreath-laying ceremonies, prayers and commemorative programmes honouring those who lost their lives during the July movement.
The day's observance began at 7:30 a.m. with the laying of floral wreaths at the July Martyrs' Memorial in front of the Pabna Zila Parishad building.
Among those paying tribute were Pabna Sadar Member of Parliament Shamsur Rahman Shimul Biswas, Zila Parishad Administrator and freedom fighter Zahurul Islam Bishu, Deputy Commissioner Aminul Islam, Superintendent of Police Abu Ashraf, the local commander of the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB), and representatives of various government and non-government organisations.
Following the wreath-laying ceremony, special prayers were offered for those who lost their lives during the July Mass Uprising.
Participants later visited the graves of two victims of the July movement at Arifpur Cemetery to pay their respects.
A reception for the families of those who were killed and for participants in the July movement was held later in the morning at the Pabna District Shilpakala Academy auditorium.
The programme also included a discussion highlighting the significance of the July Mass Uprising and its place in the country's recent history.
