PABNA, July 23 (V7N) — Residents of Himaitpur in Pabna have submitted a written application to the Prime Minister, demanding uninterrupted management of 0.15 acres of land associated with the birthplace of Sri Sri Thakur Anukul Chandra.

A group of local residents submitted the application at the Pabna Deputy Commissioner’s office on Wednesday (July 22) at around 11:30am. Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Md Moniruzzaman received the application on behalf of the Deputy Commissioner.

Earlier, people from different professions in the Sri Sri Thakur Anukul Chandra Satsang Ashram area brought out a procession and gathered in front of the Deputy Commissioner’s office. At a brief rally, local residents Afzal Hossain, Mannan Malitha and Abul Kalam addressed the gathering.

Speakers said the Sri Sri Thakur Anukul Chandra Satsang Ashram in Himaitpur has been conducting religious activities peacefully and legally for a long time. They said the institution has gained respect and acceptance among local people regardless of religion and has contributed through various welfare activities.

However, they alleged that recently some outsiders and individuals linked to an Indian organisation have attempted to disrupt regular religious activities and occupy the land associated with Thakur Anukul Chandra’s birthplace.

The residents urged authorities to take necessary action against what they described as unlawful activities by the organisation and ensure the transfer and uninterrupted management of the 0.15-acre birthplace land, which they said was allocated to the Satsang Ashram during the tenure of former Prime Minister Khaleda Zia.

After the rally, the application was formally submitted to the Deputy Commissioner’s office.

Additional Deputy Commissioner Md Moniruzzaman said he received the application on behalf of the Deputy Commissioner, who was unavailable at the time. He added that since the application was addressed to the Prime Minister, it would be forwarded to the Prime Minister’s Office after receiving further instructions from the Deputy Commissioner.
