Rajshahi, June 12, (V7N): World Cup excitement reached new heights in Rajshahi as supporters of archrivals Argentina and Brazil came together for an unprecedented show of camaraderie today.
Dozens of decorated private cars, microbuses, and motorcycles joined the rally that rolled through the city’s main thoroughfares. Giant national flags of both countries flew from vehicles, while fans in team jerseys leaned out of sunroofs and windows, chanting and celebrating.
Main Attraction
The centerpiece of the rally was a mini-truck decorated in Brazil’s green and yellow, topped with a giant football and World Cup trophy replica. As the convoy moved past modern street islands and decorative lampposts, the air filled with vuvuzela blasts and spirited slogans, turning the streets into a festival zone.
Message of Harmony Over Rivalry
While Argentina-Brazil fans are known for fierce rivalry, Rajshahi’s streets told a different story. Flags of both nations flew side by side in the same convoy. Pedestrians waved and cheered as the rally passed.
“We may support different teams, but football means joy,” said Sabbir Hossain, a young participant. “We wanted this rally to spread a message of celebration and friendship among all football lovers in Rajshahi.”
The motor rally covered key areas including Shaheb Bazar, Laxmipur, Talaimari, and Railgate, and ended peacefully without any disruption. Local residents appreciated the disciplined celebration.
