PABNA, June 9, (V7N) – Two separate violent incidents in Pabna city on Monday claimed the lives of two individuals, including one man who was shot dead in front of his child. Hossain Ali (55) was killed by miscreants outside Jamia Ashrafia Madrasa in the Pabna Municipality area around 6:30 pm, while Monirul Islam (22) was stabbed to death behind the Central Bus Terminal around 4 pm.
According to police and eyewitnesses, Hossain Ali had gone to the madrasa to drop off his 12-year-old son Rohan when miscreants lurking in the area shot him in front of the child and fled. Hossain Ali died on the spot. He was the son of the late Moin Uddin of Gayeshpur Jafrabad village in Pabna Sadar upazila.
In the second incident, an argument broke out between two youths named Rakib and Monirul due to a previous dispute near the Central Bus Terminal. During the altercation, Rakib stabbed Monirul. When local residents rushed to intervene, Rakib jumped into a nearby pond. Police later arrested Rakib from the spot.
Locals rescued Monirul and took him first to Pabna General Hospital and then to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital, but he died on the way. Monirul was the son of Munnaf Ali of Shibrampur Paschimpara village in Santhia upazila. The accused, Rakib, has been arrested in connection with the stabbing.
Pabna Sadar Police Station Officer-in-Charge Tariqul Islam said Hossain Ali's body was recovered and sent to Pabna General Hospital for autopsy, while Monirul's body is being brought to Pabna from Rajshahi. The reason for the shooting death of Hossain Ali is not immediately known, and police are working to uncover the real cause.
