PABNA, May 26, (V7N)– A new online news portal, Darpan News.com, has officially begun its journey from Chatmohar upazila of Pabna with the slogan “A reflection of this time”. The portal promises to deliver accurate news with honesty and courage, aiming to win the hearts of readers.
The inauguration ceremony was held at the Chatmohar Press Club auditorium at noon, in a homely atmosphere. The program was chaired by Press Club President Helalur Rahman Jewel and moderated by General Secretary SM Masud Rana. A minute’s silence was observed in memory of deceased journalists of Chatmohar.
Former Press Club president and editor of Dainik Chalanbil Rakibur Rahman Tukun, vice-president Sanjit Saha Kingshuk, joint general secretary Nurul Islam, and executive member Shamim Hasan Milon were among those who spoke in the welcoming session. Other speakers included Biplob Acharya, Kalbela correspondent Iqbal Kabir Ranju, and cultural organizer Zeman Asad.
Shahin Rahman, editor of Darpan News, and publisher Sanjit Chakraborty Sona delivered welcome speeches, pledging to uphold ethical journalism and prioritize humanitarian reporting. They emphasized that the portal will highlight the stories of the oppressed and marginalized, working as a mirror of society.
Press Club President Helalur Rahman Jewel said Darpan News must embrace truth and avoid creating unrest or chaos. He expressed hope that the portal would gain readership and become a trusted platform where people can share their problems, confident they will be presented accurately.
Former president Rakibur Rahman Tukun criticized unethical practices of many online portals, saying Darpan News must rise above copy-paste journalism and viral chasing. He stressed that maintaining a portal is harder than launching one, but expressed optimism that Darpan News would survive in its own glory.
The event was attended by numerous journalists, including MA Jinnah (Bhorer Darpan), Bakul Rahman (Bhorer Kagoj), Abdul Latif Ranju (Kaler Kantho), Tushar Bhattacharya (Ajker Patrika), Jahangir Alam (Inqilab), Habibur Rahman Shimul (Amar Sangbad), Khondaker Ittekhar Ahmed Tutul (Amadre Somi), and Tofazzal Hossain Babu (CNI).
Designer Faisal Raju was also present, underscoring the collaborative effort behind the portal’s launch.
In their remarks, Editor Shahin Rahman and Publisher Sanjit Chakraborty Sona reiterated: “We are not for anyone, but for the people. Journalism in the public interest is our foundation. With readers’ cooperation, we want to overcome any difficult path together.”
The inauguration concluded with the formal launch of Darpan News.com by clicking on the project, followed by cake cutting and a celebration among attendees.
