UKHIYA (COX’S BAZAR), May 8 (V7N) — In a major anti-narcotics operation, Rapid Action Battalion (RAB-15) recovered 250,000 pieces of Yaba tablets from a remote location in Ukhiya early Friday morning. However, the suspected drug traffickers managed to escape under the cover of darkness after sensing the presence of the elite force.

According to RAB-15 sources, a specialized team conducted the raid at around 4:30 AM in a bamboo grove in the Purba Farir Bill area of Palongkhali Union. The operation was launched based on intelligence reports indicating that a large consignment of narcotics was being gathered for a transaction.

As the RAB personnel approached the site, the traffickers fled the scene, taking advantage of the dense foliage and late-night shadows. Upon searching the abandoned site, officers discovered the massive cache of Yaba tablets packed in several bags.

RAB confirmed that the seized drugs and related evidence have been documented and handed over to Ukhiya Police Station for further legal proceedings. Intelligence surveillance has been heightened in the region to identify and apprehend the suspects who fled.

Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) A.M. Faruk, Assistant Director (Law and Media) of RAB-15, stated that such operations remain a core priority in the effort to build a drug-free society. He emphasized that RAB-15 will continue its rigorous crackdown on smuggling networks across the border regions.
