RAJSHAHI, MAY 01 (V7N) — Rajshahi City Corporation (RCC) Administrator Md. Mahfuzur Rahman Riton inspected the under‑construction Naodapara raw market and other development projects in Rajshahi metropolis on Thursday.
During the visit, he reviewed construction progress, directed officials to ensure timely completion, and exchanged views with local businessmen, assuring solutions to their problems. He emphasized that the government led by Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has already begun implementing election promises, including family cards, farmer cards, allowances for imams and muazzins, and canal excavation programs. He added that the Naodapara raw market will soon be completed, boosting RCC’s revenue.
The administrator also inspected beautification work at the pond near the Children’s Hospital and Chest Disease Hospital, and the construction of the Ward No. 6 Councilor’s Office cum Community Center in Lakshmipur.
Separately, the Road Transport Wing of the Planning Commission announced on April 21 that two regional highways, including the Rajshahi–Naogaon–Bogra Highway, have been upgraded to national highways. The decision followed a Standing Committee meeting on February 1 to resolve jurisdictional disputes and improve road standards.
According to officials, the upgrade will allow expansion to four lanes and enhanced road safety measures. Executive Engineer Md. Rashedul Haque noted that district highways are gradually upgraded to regional and then national status. Superintendent Engineer Md. Hamidul Haque.
