Tangail, Apr 20 (V7N) — At least two people were killed and several others injured in a head-on collision between a passenger bus and a sand-laden truck in Ghatail on Monday morning.

The accident took place around 8:00 am in the Hamidpur area on the Tangail–Mymensingh Road.

How the accident happened

Police and local sources said a passenger bus traveling from Mymensingh to Dhaka collided head-on with a sand truck coming from Bhuiyanpur.

The truck driver died on the spot, while the truck helper was critically injured and later died after being taken to Kalihati Upazila Health Complex.

Rescue operation

Following the crash, local residents, police, and fire service personnel conducted a rescue operation and recovered injured passengers from the wreckage.

Police statement

Officer-in-Charge of Ghatail Police Station, Mokchedur Rahman, confirmed the deaths and said legal procedures are underway.

Authorities are investigating the cause of the collision.
