Madhabpur (Habiganj), April 18 (V7N) — A long-standing labor dispute at the Teliapara tea estate under National Tea Company in Madhabpur has been peacefully resolved through the intervention of industrialist and social worker Syed Shafqat Ahmed.
Workers had become divided into factions, disrupting normal operations and halting production. Acting on the directive of Habiganj-4 MP Syed Md. Faisal, his son Shafqat Ahmed convened a meeting in Noapara on Saturday morning, mediating between garden secretary Lalon and labor leader Hemanta Pan. Misunderstandings between garden manager Dewan Bahauddin Liton and worker representatives were also settled.
Bangladesh Tea Workers’ Union General Secretary Nripen Pal said that despite the three-way crisis, dialogue led to a fair solution, restoring a peaceful atmosphere in the garden. Labor leader Hemanta Pan pledged that all parties would work together to maintain harmony in the historic estate.
Meanwhile, at Chandichhara tea estate, a long-standing water shortage in the workers’ colony was addressed. Following MP Faisal’s request, Shafqat Ahmed provided Tk 150,000 through Syed Abu Nayeem (Halim) for the purchase of a submersible pump on April 18. Local residents welcomed the initiative and expressed gratitude to those involved.
