Dinajpur, Apr 12 (V7N) – Wheat imports from India to Bangladesh have resumed through the Hili Land Port after a four-year suspension, bringing relief to traders and workers.

Following the lifting of the export ban, a total of 116 tons of wheat entered Bangladesh on Saturday through three trucks. The consignment was imported by M/s Mifa International.

The Indian government had imposed a ban on wheat exports on May 13, 2022, due to rising domestic prices. As a result, wheat imports through several land ports, including Hili, had been completely halted.

With the resumption of imports, traders expressed optimism that regular supply will continue based on domestic demand, helping to stabilize the local market.
