MONGLA, Mar 17, (V7N) — A mobile court in Mongla has fined two oil traders and a motorcyclist a total of Tk 89,000 for irregularities and violations during a drive in different areas of the municipality on Tuesday.
Upazila Assistant Commissioner (Land) Nawsina Arif, who led the operation, said the fines were imposed in the afternoon. A. Rab, owner of M/s Zakir Enterprises near the fire service station at Chowkidar’s intersection, was fined Tk 80,000 for hoarding oil and selling it at inflated prices.
Md. Solaiman, owner of M/s Pragati Enterprises at Bagerhat Jetty on Madrasa Road, was fined Tk 8,000 for operating without proper documentation, including an explosives license.
In addition, motorcyclist Prant Pramanik was fined Tk 1,000 for carrying three passengers without helmets and valid documents.
Officials said the drive was part of ongoing efforts to curb illegal practices and ensure public safety in the municipality. The fines were collected on the spot under mobile court provisions.
Local sources noted that residents have welcomed the action, saying it would help discourage hoarding and unsafe transport practices in the area.
