JHALAKATHI, Mar 11, (V7N) – A fire broke out at the residence of Shuktaghar Union Jubo Dal leader Aminul Islam in Narikel Bariya village of Rajapur upazila at midnight on Tuesday, gutting parts of the property.

According to locals and the affected family, miscreants allegedly set fire to the house from the back. Neighbors noticed the blaze and quickly alerted the residents. A nearby Hafizi Madrasa used its microphone to announce the incident, prompting villagers to rush to the spot.

With the combined efforts of locals, police, and fire service personnel, the fire was brought under control. The chicken coop and kitchen behind the main house were destroyed. Aminul Islam claimed the damage amounts to more than Tk 5 lakh.

Rajapur Police Station Officer‑in‑Charge Nazrul Islam said police responded immediately after receiving information and helped control the situation. He added that legal action will be taken if a formal complaint is lodged.
