DHAKA, Mar 9, (V7N) – A Dhaka court today ordered two accused to jail in a case filed for allegedly mugging Anti‑Corruption Commission (ACC) Director General Motahar Hossain in Mohammadpur on March 7.

The accused, Shahjada and Rubel, were produced before Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Jamshed Alam, who passed the order after police sought to keep them behind bars until the end of the investigation.

According to the case, Motahar was robbed around 11 pm near Shaheed Faiyaz Chattar beside Dhaka Residential Model College, where attackers snatched his iPhone, wallet containing Tk 15,000, and a wristwatch. ACC Deputy Director Javeb Hossain Sajal later filed the case with Mohammadpur Police Station.

Meanwhile, in a separate case, another Dhaka court today convicted and sentenced a snatcher to two years’ rigorous imprisonment for mugging Kutub Uddin in Uttara in 2022.

Dhaka Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Zakir Hossain pronounced the judgment against Md Shakil, 20, who was also fined Tk 5,000. The court acquitted Raihan Hossain and Sajib Islam of the charges.
