Kushtia, Feb 22 (V7N) – Jamaat-nominated candidate and Member of Parliament for Kushtia-3 (Sadar), Mufti Ameer Hamza, has said that religious commitment should not be limited to the month of Ramadan alone.
He made the remarks on Saturday (February 21) evening while speaking as the chief guest at an iftar gathering organized by the district unit of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami.
Ameer Hamza said that seeing many people wearing caps during Ramadan may suggest an increase in worship, but he expressed hope that such an environment would continue throughout the remaining 11 months of the year. “Do not wear the cap only because Ramadan has arrived. As we see you now, we want to see the same character, appearance, and actions from you in the coming months as well,” he said.
Referring to the recent election, he stated that regardless of the engineering, planning, or mechanisms involved, democracy ultimately prevailed. He urged journalists to maintain transparency and consistently call right as right and wrong as wrong, without leaning toward any individual or group.
He described journalism as a noble profession, emphasizing that presenting accurate information to the nation is itself an act of worship. “Many of us fail to realize that your work in informing the nation is also a form of ibadah (worship),” he added.
The event was presided over by District Jamaat Secretary Suja Uddin Joardar and moderated by City Jamaat Ameer Enamul Haque. Principal (Retd.) Khandakar A.K.M. Ali Muhsin, a regional team member of Jamaat for the Jessore-Kushtia zone, attended as the main discussant.
Media professionals and leaders and activists of the district Jamaat were present at the iftar gathering.
