Feb 18 (V7N) — Police have recovered the bodies of a man and a woman from two separate along Teknaf beach in Cox’s Bazar after they were found washed ashore during high tide on Wednesday morning.

According to police and local sources, fishermen first spotted a body floating near the shoreline while fishing early in the morning. Shortly afterwards, another body was seen at a different location along the same coastal stretch, prompting locals to inform law enforcement.

The bodies were recovered from Lambari Beach and Mithapanirchhara Beach, both adjacent to Marine Drive in Teknaf Sadar Union. Locals believe the bodies were carried ashore by strong tidal currents.

Police said the deceased include one male and one female, both initially estimated to be between 30 and 40 years old. No visible major injuries could be confirmed before the completion of autopsy procedures.

After preparing inquest reports at the scene, the bodies were sent to Cox’s Bazar Sadar Hospital morgue for post-mortem examination.

Law enforcers are now checking missing person reports filed at nearby police stations and coastal areas to establish the identities of the deceased. Necessary steps have also been taken to identify them through further investigation.

Teknaf Model Police Station Officer-in-Charge Saiful Islam confirmed the recovery, saying that the bodies have been sent for autopsy and further legal procedures are underway.
