Jhalakathi, Feb 12 (V7N) - Voting is progressing in a peaceful atmosphere in Jhalakathi-1 (Kathalia-Rajapur) constituency, with no reports of untoward incidents so far.

NCP leader Mahmuda Alam Mitu cast her vote at Banshbari Government Primary School polling centre in Kathalia upazila at around 8:30 am. She stood in line before exercising her franchise.

Speaking to reporters after casting her ballot, Mitu said it was the first time in her life that she had voted. Expressing her feelings, she said she was happy to participate in the democratic process and hoped that the 11-party alliance would form the next government. She also expressed optimism that Dr Faizul Haque would secure victory from the Jhalakathi-1 constituency.

According to local sources, voting in the constituency has been continuing in an orderly and calm environment since morning. Law enforcement agencies have maintained a strong presence at polling centres, ensuring security and smooth conduct of the election.

Election officials said polling stations in the upazila have remained peaceful, with voters turning out steadily to cast their ballots.
